Greater Manchester is on a journey to delivering the Bee Network – the city-region’s vision for a joined-up, sustainable and inclusive transport system which supports safe, seamless and affordable end-to-end journeys across public transport and active travel.
TfGM oversees public transport and active travel across the ten district areas of Greater Manchester, serving more than 2.7 million people, and supports the delivery of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s transport priorities, as well as the Mayor’s transport manifesto commitments.
Improving our public transport and active travel is crucial to connecting people with key services and opportunities, and later this year we will become the first city-region to bring buses back under local control since they were deregulated in 1986.
We’re looking for someone with the ability to deliver high quality communications as part of a fast-paced, high-profile Strategic Communications team. As a Senior Communications Officer (Media and Reputation) you will support the day to day delivery of TfGM’s media strategy, focused on protecting and enhancing reputation through high quality responsive and proactive media relations, including effective engagement that positions TfGM and GMCA regionally and nationally as well as responding quickly to enquiries from a wide range of media outlets. We are seeking someone with significant experience of working for a media outlet / in a newsroom environment and/or experience of working in a fast-paced, press office environment and with the ability to work on a number of projects and priorities, often to tight deadlines. You must have excellent writing and influencing skills, be able to build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels across the organisation and be a self-starter able to quickly get up to speed on new topics.
The nature of the role will mean some work outside normal hours and you will be required to be part of an on-call rota.
Interviews will be held over teams on the 22nd and 23rd March.
