Job description

Wise May are looking for a proactive individual with experience in claims handing to join this growing Insurance business. The successful candidate will play a key role in a small team that work across multiple Insurance products.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the ‘claims’ inbox as a priority, regularly reviewing all emails and dealing, or redirecting as appropriate.
  • Setting up all new claims on the claims system, acknowledging claim notifications, carrying out sanctions checks, entering all key dates on the system, and saving/uploading all correspondence to the claims systems.
  • Ensuring all post is scanned and saved to the system.
  • Logging and tracking all accounts payments.
  • Responsible for updating the claims bordereau.
  • Answering telephone calls and acting as an initial point of contact for claims enquiries.
  • Maintaining the electronic and any paper files, including printing, scanning and photocopying.
  • Reviewing and analysing claims and assisting the Claims Manager generally with responding to claims, including the preparation of letters, instruction of panel solicitors, counsel and valuers where appropriate.
  • Attend external meetings with insurers and third parties.
  • Provide assistance where required to underwriters and compliance.
  • Assist with the updating of procedure and systems manuals and guidelines.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and legal aspects of insurance, with knowledge of policy coverage, and market generally.
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK property law and/or litigation and/or the conveyancing procedure.
  • Experience of working within an office environment.
