Your work as a Senior Civil Engineer will include the following activities:
- Work collaboratively with members of the MMB and client project teams and contribute to creating a positive and engaging environment.
- Supervise the work of more junior civil engineers, providing technical and professional guidance to aid their development.
- Contribute to driving an excellence and ‘right first time’ culture in the team, including identifying and helping to address any competency gaps in the civil design.
- Contribute to the identification and development of affordable and low carbon solutions, including risk management, meeting the requirements of the project scope through innovative or standardised designs.
- Support engagement with suppliers and subcontractors and undertake technical reviews of their design/equipment.
- Understand our client’s standards and support the Design Lead and team to ensure that the civil design outputs comply with the required standards and quality requirements, to achieve client acceptance.
- Support the Project Leader and Design Lead in technical meetings with our clients to achieve design acceptances.
- Positively engage with our clients to develop relationships and influence, and to enhance our reputation and adopting a One-Team approach to support them in achieving their aims.
- Engage with the appropriate Mott MacDonald Practices and develop relationships with the wider Mott MacDonald Group to enhance yours and MMB’s performance.
- Supporting the Project Leader in the outline and detailed design of multi-disciplinary water and wastewater schemes for our Northumbrian Water, Yorkshire Water and United Utilities framework clients.
- You will provide design support to the site team during the construction stage and will be integral in contributing towards successful project close-outs and post-project reviews.
Candidate Specification
- Qualified Civil engineer with experience in water, or wastewater, non-infrastructure, and infrastructure design.
- Have a broad understanding of water / Wastewater sector process plant.
- Use of software packages for carrying out civil design calculations.
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
- Understanding of designer’s responsibilities under CDM
- Proven record in mentoring and developing junior staff in design.
- Understanding of program, budget and quality requirements.
- An understanding of procurement and construction.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services to its clients, combining the contracting expertise of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald.
This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture business, both with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
