The Opportunity:
Our team in Leeds is a dynamic and engaging one, expanding rapidly, with vibrant and dynamic projects in the industrial, water and energy sectors. Our offering is that of a "one-stop-shop" for clients, we also work closely with our multi-disciplinary engineering and consulting teams providing advice across all disciplines to our clients.
We are looking for a technically strong, proactive, and driven Senior Chemical Engineer, with experience in delivering projects and bringing fresh ideas to enhance the way we work. Excellent team working and collaboration skills are expected, and you will need to liaise with internal and external teams to take part or lead on several fronts. The role will offer flexible working with the opportunity to work remotely 2-3 days a week, we would also consider if someone wanted to work part-time.
Ideally, candidates will a variety of skills and technical expertise which could encompass Chemical Engineering, Industrial, Renewables, Oil and Gas, Hydrogen, Industrial Chemical Engineering or Manufacturing sectors, along with experience of clean and waste water treatment - we would also consider candidates with a strong process safety background. This position is a very collaborative and supportive post, by its very nature and thus requires nimble and dynamic approaches to the projects As a multidiscipline team, transferrable skills are key as we seek to grow and develop our service offering, so a keen interest in all things energy, industrial and hydrogen-related would be desirable.
The ideal candidate would be technically astute and interested in assisting with our digital transformation. Furthermore, they would be driven towards better sustainable designs and motivated to help reduce the effects of climate change. They will already have contributed to and led various design projects and will be used to producing work to a high calibre, whilst supporting and developing junior colleagues. Looking to the future, Arup offers excellent training, coaching, and options for career development, and they will have the opportunity to work alongside high-calibre engineers of many disciplines.
Is this role right for you?
We are looking for candidates with vibrant technical skills combined with a practical understanding of Chemical Engineering and its applications within the Industrial sector. Candidates who are motivated and willing to learn and take on new challenges, enthusiastic about developing your skills and experiences, as well as the development of others. Our team has a passion for the Energy sector and the Hydrogen sector, in particular. In addition, we are looking for the following:
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PHAST software, Hysis software, and AutoCad3D
- An appropriate university degree or equivalent qualification. – ie: Chem Eng - Master’s degree also desirable.
- Process safety background
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Clean water and waste water treatment experience.
- Have attained Prof Registration or working towards Chartership.
