Senior Character Artist Cambridge, East of England, England
Job description
As a Senior Character Artist, you will be responsible for creating and implementing high-quality creatures that meet our creative vision and technical requirements. In addition to this, you will be responsible for creating realistic and visually appealing clothing for our game characters. You will collaborate closely with our game development team to create visually stunning and immersive assets that engage players and drive engagement. You will also mentor and guide more junior artists on the team to ensure that our work meets the highest standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work from concept art and reference imagery to create and implement high-quality creatures & clothing that meet our creative vision and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with game designers and animators to create lifelike creatures that engage players, and realistic clothing that meet the highest quality standards.
- Ensure that all assets are optimised for performance and work within technical constraints.
- Balance technical, gameplay, and artistic constraints and work collaboratively to reach solutions between disciplines.
- Be a role model and mentor to junior artists on the team to ensure that our work meets the highest standards.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in 3d art, and proactively identify new opportunities for growth and improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Development experience on multiple shipped titles.
- Strong portfolio of game-ready creature artwork that demonstrates exceptional creativity, technical skill, and attention to detail.
- Experience with Unreal Engine is highly beneficial.
- A thorough knowledge of modern shader models.
- Experience utilising online asset libraries to speed up workflows.
- Strong understanding of game development pipelines, optimization techniques, and technical requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Bachelor's degree in fine arts, digital media, or a related field.
