We are a well-established Residential Care Home situated in the village of South Brent. We are recruiting a Senior Care Assistant to join our family run home. Windward House has regular public transport routes 7 days a week from Plymouth and other surrounding areas and is a 25 minute car journey along the A38 from Plymouth.
The Role of senior carer is to support the management team in all aspects of the daily running of the home and taking complete temporary charge during the absence of managers. You will be working alongside the Deputy Manager to run the shift and support the team who will look to you for guidance and support in their day to day tasks. You must be someone who enjoys leading a team and supporting newer members of staff inc the hotel Services dept.

Seniors carers need to be someone who give the best care and help they can to vulnerable people, some of which are living with dementia. You must have integrity, a good work ethic and be reliable.
We require you to commit to either 24 or 36 hours per week working on a rota basis and you will work alternate weekends. You will also be expected to help cover sickness and annual leave, which means there is always the opportunity to work more hours per week.
We deliver a 24 hour, 7 days a week service to residents, you will be required to work a variety of flexible shift patterns including some weekends and bank holidays.
Administering medications to residents is mandatory within this role. You must have previous experience of handling medication for both administration and auditing purposes.
You should have an NVQ 2 or advanced diploma in health and social care or equivalent to join us as a Senior care assistant and knowledge of clinical care for the elderly. Commitment to training and development is essential, you will therefore be expected to attend all mandatory training.
Senior carer responsibilities:
Build relationships with adults at risk of harm
To promote and maintain a high standard of care at all times.
To assist with the updating of residents care plans and risk assessments on our electronic system
Being vigilant and reporting/acting upon changes to health
Provide personal care
Ensure high quality care is given
Evaluate electronic care plans (full training given)
To administer and record medication in accordance to current policies, procedures and regulations.
To liaise with and update all records with external agencies such as GP, District Nurse, Physiotherapist, mental health team etc visits on our electronic system
To lead from the front, ensuring there is a good line of communication with all residents, their families, and visitors.
Reporting to the manager any dissatisfaction expressed by residents, relatives, visitors or staff
To supervise care staff around issues of best practice, recording in electronic progress notes such as fluid input/ output, nutrition charts etc,
To assist in maintaining safe environments for residents and staff
Assisting with daily activity participation inc recording on our electronic system
To have the confidence to work with minimal supervision and from own initiative

Snr Care Assistant Requirements:
*Experience in the care sector (essential)
*Reliability to commit to your shifts (essential)
*Level 2 in health and Social or equivalent (essential)
