As a Senior Buyer you'll own, deliver and optimise the buying and selling strategy for Sainsbury’s Chocolate within the Impulse category. You'll sustainably grow market share and cash profit through a competitive and distinctive customer offer. You’ll work cross functionally to review product ranges, identifying opportunities for product improvement, new product development and cost savings through consolidation, tenders and efficiencies.
As a Senior Buyer you’ll:
- Develop and execute a customer-focused, source and selection strategy
- Identify and negotiate cost savings through brilliant supplier relationship management and understanding of the end-to-end supply chain
- Implement Pricing, Promotional & Ranging strategies
- Liaise with the Buying Manager and Category Manager to identify future commercial opportunities
- Work with Supply Chain, Own Brand and Retail to drive the optimum product range
- Deliver to business targets on sales, profit, value and range
- Support the implementation of NPD (New Product Development)
- Liaise with the Product Technologist/Developer in setting the quality criteria for products, ensuring the optimal balance between quality and price is maintained
Our Impulse Buying Team would love to see:
- Previous buying experience (Grocery/Fresh)
- Know and understand the product, market and consumer
- Experience of tender process with excellent negotiation skills
- Knowledge of buying systems and processes
- Strong commercial acumen
- Effective communication, networker and influencing skills
- Brilliant prioritisation and organisation
- Ability to spot issues, plan to mitigate risk with high levels of resilience
- Experience to lead relevant cross functional projects through to delivery
