Things you need to know
Selection process details
As part of the application process, you will be asked to complete a name blind CV and 750-word Personal Statement.
Your Personal Statement should be used to describe how your skills and experience would be suitable for the advertised role. We recommend linking any examples to the job description, essential and desirable criteria, using the STAR (situation, task, action, result) framework to describe your skills and experiences.
You should also complete a CV which should cover your job history, responsibilities, and key achievements for the past five years, noting the reason for any gaps. Your CV should not exceed 750 words.
In the event of a large number of applications, we may conduct a short sift on the Personal Statement only.
At full sift, both your CV and your Personal Statement will be assessed.
We aim to review your application by mid-June 2023. If you are successful, you will be invited to an interview, which may take place via Microsoft Teams or be face-to-face in one of our regional centres.
During the interview, you will be asked to deliver a short presentation around a given scenario and will then be asked questions that let you demonstrate your experience and skills based on the job description, essential and desirable criteria for the role. You will be informed of the presentation topic if/when you are invited to interview. As well as the presentation, the interview will consist of questions to further explore your skills, experience, and how suitable you would be for the job.
We reserve the right to raise the score required at any stage of the process in order to manage numbers.
We aim to conduct interviews within 2-3 weeks of the sift results being released.
After interview, we will create a merit list for each location, and you will only be considered for posts in locations you have expressed a preference for. Before accepting a post, please ensure you can travel to your preferred location in line with our hybrid working arrangements of a minimum of 2 days a week at the office.
Appointments will be made in strict merit order in line with the set number of roles in each location.
We will be holding a virtual presentation session, which will give you an opportunity to hear from current HMRC employees and ask questions.
The session will be held on the following date:
Thursday 25th May 12:00 – 13:00
To register your interest please visit: -
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/hmrc-cdio-so-senior-business-analyst-virtual-presentation-tickets-635411722567
There will be limited capacity, so places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Once you register you will receive a Microsoft Teams invitation to attend.
Please note: The reason we are launching this recruitment campaign across all locations is to ensure we have sufficient resources available for the future to cover our recruitment needs for the next 12 months. Candidates will be asked for location preferences in their application. Where this is not a role available in a specific location, candidates will be placed on a merit list for future opportunities.
