The Business Services and Outsourcing team are essential to meeting our clients' evolving requirements. As well as delivering long-term, sustainable value to businesses by providing a range of solutions such as accounting, payroll and compliance services, they also play a key role in tying together many of our services across BDO both domestically and internationally. By building deep and meaningful relationships with a range of clients from ambitious entrepreneurial SMEs to large multi-national groups, our BS&O team don’t just advise on their specific business challenges, they open doors for other teams to provide our firm’s wider service offering. In this role you will:

Preparation of annual accounts for Small, Medium, Large Entities, Group Consolidations under IFRS, FRS101, FRS102 & FRS102 (1a).

Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual management accounts.

Prepare VAT returns.

Prepare year end audit files for clients with supporting schedules for all balance sheet items and tax sensitive profit and loss items.

Attend client’s premises to assist in key projects, such as treasury management, systems checking, preparation for acquisition.

Maintain and build relationships with clients and ensure that all communications are conducted in a professional manner.

Build trust and connect with clients and targets by listening and showing empathy and patience.

Demonstrate a sound awareness of how businesses operate, the commercial environment and its impact on the client’s business.

Train junior members on accounts software and other processes critical to their current or future work.

Be responsible for Bookkeeping including preparing, processing, and recording bank transactions, processing purchase, sales and general ledger entries for a wide variety of clients, including the group’s larger more complex clients.

Manage information efficiently.

Maintain awareness of risk and deliver high quality documents.
We’re looking for someone with:

ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent.

Proven experience of preparing Annual accounts, this will include Small, Medium and Large Companies, IFRS, FRS102, FRS102(1a) and FRS101, Group Consolidations.

Proven experience in the preparation of management accounts.

Proven experience working with clients on advisory projects.

Commercial awareness
-
Good VAT and Corporate tax knowledge.

Experience of audit file preparation and liaison with audit teams (preferable not essential).

Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products.

Solid bookkeeping skills.

Working knowledge of Caseware (preferable not essential).

Good working knowledge of accounting software including Xero, Quickbooks & Sage.

Knowledge of cloud addon software e.g. Fathom (preferable but not essential).

Basic knowledge of the rules and regulations of doing business in the UK including reporting requirements, tax requirements.
