Salary: £42,000 - £65,000+ (Depending on Experience)

The Position:
Caterpillar’s Electrification and Advanced Power Solutions division (E&APSD) is focused on advanced power systems development with emphasis on electrification to provide sustainable power solutions to our customers. The E&APSD Chemitronics Team is responsible for Lithium-Ion Battery Simulation and Battery Management System (BMS) strategy, calibration and validation.
We are currently seeking a Battery Controls Engineer to join the Chemitronics BMS Control Team. The role is available at either an Engineer or Senior Engineer level depending on experience. These roles will be focused on developing, calibrating and validating BMS controls strategies for a variety of Caterpillar and 3rd Party applications. The successful candidate will work on assignments that are complex in nature, working with individuals and teams across the US, UK and India.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
As a Battery Controls Engineer in the team, you will be expected to:
Convert high level system requirements into viable control strategies for down-selection.
Develop detailed control strategy requirements using Matlab/Simulink controls modelling.
Calibrate and validate your control strategies when available as embedded code.
Define test requirements and analyse results for control system testing in labs and field machines.
Communicate technical information to internal customers and team members.
Additional expectations for the Senior role are:
Lead projects and other Engineers to meet the needs of the customer and business.
Communicate technical information to external customers
An Engineer will have the following skills and experiences :
Accredited Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in a relevant engineering subject
Experience with Matlab/Simulink (or similar) in the fields of simulation, controls and data analysis
Experience with control strategy development
Excellent interpersonal skills (written/verbal/presentation communication, teamwork)
A Senior Engineer will have these additional skills and experiences :
Knowledge of Lithium-Ion batteries performance/characteristics and modelling
Experienced in the application and development of BMS control strategies
