Role Summary

  • Responsibilities: You will take a leading role across a variety of projects within our Literature Reviews & Synthesis division, working alongside project teams to ensure that work is are delivered to an exceptionally high standard
  • Salary: £44,000 to £47,000 depending on your previous experience

About the Role

Do you have experience of successfully delivering projects, with a focus on evidence generation? Do you enjoy building and maintaining client relationships? Costello Medical are growing quickly through demand from both new and existing clients and are therefore looking for candidates with prior experience in medical consulting who enjoy content delivery as well as project and client management to join us as Senior Analysts.

This role will be based within our Literature Reviews & Synthesis division, where projects are focused on systematic, rapid and pragmatic literature reviews. Review topics range from clinical efficacy, safety and effectiveness, through disease epidemiology, to health economic data. Statistical and health economic components of these projects are also available, involving close collaboration with our Health Economics & Statistics division. We publish many of our reviews as conference presentations or journal publications and there is also opportunity for conducting our own research.

Supported by Consultants, Senior Analysts take a leading role across projects and work alongside the project team to ensure that work is delivered to an exceptionally high-standard in line with agreed timelines. This involves providing strategic advice to clients at project initiation, supervision of the project team and regular interaction with clients. Senior Analysts are central to the quality control of a project, involving the review of colleague’s work and the provision of constructive feedback.

You will also play a key role in contributing to business development by developing and maintaining excellent client relationships and identifying opportunities to provide additional services to clients within existing projects.

Senior Analysts are supported to progress to the Consultant role, and this can typically be achieved in 1 to 2 years. In this Consultant role, you would then have full responsibility for client management, including budgeting and business development, and project delivery. In addition, our Consultants line manage team members and have internal responsibilities spanning areas such as recruitment and training.

Essential requirements for the role are:

  • A degree level or higher qualification in a scientific discipline (minimum 2.1). We welcome applications from candidates with a diverse range of specialisms, including but not limited to; biology, chemistry, pharmacy and medicine
  • Previous experience conducting systematic literature reviews in a collaborative working setting, which has included project management and delivery
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high degree of written accuracy
  • Excellent proficiency in written English and arithmetic
  • Strong scientific writing skills with the ability to tailor writing style to different audiences
  • Project management skills sufficient to enable timely project delivery
  • Excellent data presentation skills, including the ability to use Excel, PowerPoint and Word effectively and efficiently, to produce a professional, high standard of work
  • Sufficient technical and strategic knowledge to provide clients with recommendations on project content and approach
  • Capacity to maintain exceptional customer service and quality of deliverables under multiple competing demands. Experience in communicating directly with clients including responding to different communication styles, as well as a proven ability to build robust and sustainable client relationships
  • Ability to motivate colleagues and take a leadership role in the delivery of project components

The Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process includes a telephone interview with a member of the Talent Acquisition team, followed by a written assessment for you to complete remotely. If successful, you will be invited to an interview which will include a short presentation that you can prepare for in advance. Our standard recruitment process lasts around 1 month however, this can be adapted if necessary.

We are currently recruiting for start dates throughout 2022, which occur on a monthly basis. We also welcome applications for start dates in 2023. You will be asked to state your availability on your application form.
