The Council’s Corporate Business Support service is excited to offer an opportunity to join the team as a Senior Administrative Support Officer to Social Workers.
This role is part of our innovative approach to supporting children’s social workers to deliver improved outcomes for some of the city’s most vulnerable children, young people and families.
The role will involve working closely with social workers to support them in managing their case load. This will include developing collaborative relationships with various stakeholders including service users and partner agencies.
With no two days the same, the role offers a varied workload which will involve responding at pace to changing priorities.
This role will primarily support the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), Assessment and Child Exploitation teams.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Monitoring social work team duty phone lines and mailboxes.
- Proactively managing social workers diaries, including scheduling meetings and appointments within statutory timescales.
- Responding to queries from various stakeholders on behalf of social workers with minimal supervision.
- Completing financial requests on behalf of social workers.
- Completing referrals to partner agencies on behalf of social workers.
- Arranging and minuting meetings.
Key skills required:
- Ability to draft correspondence on behalf of social workers.
- Ability to process highly sensitive and confidential information with tact and diplomacy.
- Knowledge of GDPR requirements.
- Ability to use initiative to respond effectively to frequently changing priorities.
- Ability to recognise potential safeguarding concerns and escalate these through appropriate channels.
- Ability to interrogate various Council systems and databases to ensure a high level of data quality, updating databases where necessary.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
The duties of this post require the postholder to undertake a basic Criminal Record check (unspent convictions only) via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
