We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our team. As our Senior Accountant, reporting into the Deputy Controller and Treasurer, you will be responsible for the delivery of management accounts, analysis, budgeting, internal and external reporting for BABW UK & Europe.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Ownership of the month-end close process including the production of monthly management accounts, posting of journals in Microsoft D365, providing supporting analysis and participation in review meetings.
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline including bank, accounts receivable, property, prepayments and accruals for UK stores and UK Head Office departments.
- Responsible for the general ledger postings and reconciliation of all bank accounts used in UK and Ireland in multiple currencies.
- Ensures that BABW UK & Europe accounting entries comply with US GAAP and identify any differences to UKGAAP and FRS102.
- Manage UK real estate information including maintenance of store details (rent, rates, services charges) in the lease management system (Lucernex), produce and issue turnover certificates for landlords and provide analysis to support capital expenditure decisions.
- Support the Deputy Controller and Treasurer in the production and submitting of annual business plans/budgets, quarterly forecasts etc.
- Monthly review of third-party warehouse financial and operational performance. Observe annual third-party warehouse stock counts.
- Main business contact with various third-party companies providing services to BABWUK e.g. banks, credit card acquirers, cash collection, electricity, third party stores etc.
- Provide commercial financial support and analysis to improve BABWUK profitability.
- Support non-Finance departments to deliver their goals and objectives e.g. Gender Pay Gap reporting, impact of National Living Wage increases, issuing monthly sales plans etc.
- Lead tender processes related to goods and services provided to BABWUK and offer recommendations on which providers to use, e.g. electricity, cash collections etc.
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes and procedures to generate efficiencies in conjunction with the Senior Accountant and US Finance team.
- Finance team “super user” on various systems used e.g. D365 Financials, Blackline, Lucernex, online banking etc.
- Co-ordinate the filing of external information requests e.g. national statistics reporting, VORC reporting etc.
- Any other duties as may be reasonable requested by the line manager.
Specific experience required:
- Qualified Accountant who has previously worked as an accountant for minimum of 3 years in multi-site UK/European/US companies with responsibility for producing management accounts, financial analysis and budgeting/forecasting.
Other knowledge, skills & abilities required:
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and US GAAP
- Expert MS Excel knowledge
- Intermediate MS Word & Powerpoint
- Microsoft D365 and Blackline systems knowledge would be advantageous.
