We want every child and young person with special educational needs and/or disabilities in Derby to be able to ‘live their best life’. The SEND team plays a massive part in making sure that this happens.
We work with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities to make sure that they achieve well in their early years, at school and in college and lead happy and fulfilling lives.
You will help to lead a dedicated team of decision makers, formulating and reviewing education, health and care (EHC) plans in accordance with the Children and Families Act.
You will be an innovative and flexible leader, supporting and coaching staff in a fast paced and busy environment with high demand and high expectations. You will need to show empathy and resilience in supporting staff to deliver a great experience for parents, young people, education providers, and other stakeholders.
You will support the SEND Transformation Lead in delivering an ambitious programme of change at an operational level to ensure that we are delivering a statutory process that delivers the best possible outcomes for our children and young people.
But most importantly, you will be passionate about giving the best possible opportunities to our children and young people.
As part of our safer recruitment checks the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
All employees will normally be appointed to the minimum of the grade for the job. For reasons connected with a particular need of the Council it may be appropriate, subject to approval, to appoint to a higher point in the pay grade.
