The Role
In this role, you will manage a team of Learner Support Assistants, as well as a caseload of students across different curriculum areas, to ensure the needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities are effectively met.
The post holder will co-ordinate the work of Learner Support Assistants and Communication Support Workers for the curriculum area(s) you are supporting. As their line manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of day to day management including observation of good practice, performance reviews and attendance. In addition, you may be responsible for the effective management of a sessional pool of LSAs and hours.
You will also spend time in direct contact with students, including running small group sessions for students with SEND, supporting apprenticeships, supporting students with SEND in ‘crisis’ and ensuring appropriate exam access arrangements are in place.
You will work closely with curriculum areas to offer advice and support in regards to students with SEND. You will ensure Learner Support Assistants use their skills to adapt and develop materials which are accessible to learners with SEND.
