Do you have skills and experience in supporting young people with special educational needs to meet the best possible outcomes? Are you looking for a new chapter in your career? We are hiring for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team of SEND Officers in this exciting time of transformation at Bracknell Forest Council.

We support our young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and their families, so that they can live their best lives and to achieve the highest outcomes.

We believe that it is the right of every child and young person to have access to high quality education, with the right support, so that they can achieve the best outcomes possible as adults. We are determined to work with our partners to develop processes around co-production and ensure this is embedded at all levels. We can then produce strategies that lead to co-delivery of services, making the best use of resources available for children and young people with SEND. This is your chance to make a lasting impact.

Along the way you’ll have the support and training you need to thrive. We’ll help you to be at your best, so we can be at ours.

Because we’re Bracknell Forest.

What it’s like working in our team…

You will be part of an SEND team in Bracknell Forest that works closely together to support children, young people and their families to ensure that statutory duties are met and the service provided to our residents is of a high standard. You will be able to manage an allocated caseload of children and young people with special educational needs, in relation to the Education, Health and Care planning process, in a timely and compliant way.

Local Authorities across the country are facing key challenges at the moment but you will have the support of your colleages and also the opportunity to work independently to find creative solutions with the knowledge that you are improving the lives for children and young people every day.

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training…

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and partners within the Children’s Support Service to contribute towards taking forward the vision, transformation and strategic direction of the Council’s Learning and Achievement and SEND Strategies for children and young people 0-25 with SEND, and those with other additional learning needs, establishing a clear focus on outcomes.
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people with special educational needs and ensuring the statutory processes for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP’s) is undertaken in a timely and compliant way.
  • Maintain up to date records and write reports for meetings such as SEND Panel.

The benefits you will experience are…

  • An inclusive and social working environment
  • Flexible working opportunities including a flexi-time scheme
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Regular opportunities for development with internal and external training courses
  • A great office location next to travel links and the regenerated town centre
  • Internal sports and social club opportunities
  • Discounted leisure centre and gym membership
  • Supermarket discount
  • An interest free loan for a rail season ticket

What we’re looking for…

We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident and reliable person who is passionate about special educational needs. Strong communication skills are key as well as experience of SEND services for children, young people and families.

Interview date

Interviews will be held on 3rd March 2023.
