SEN Teaching Assistant | Surrey Heath | Autism | ASAP Start | Full-Time (term time only)

£90 - £110 PAYE per day - weekly payment

Are you a caring and proactive individual passionate about supporting children with Autism and associated learning difficulties? Do you have experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant and thrive in a team-oriented environment? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join a beautiful independent SEN school in Surrey Heath as a SEN Teaching Assistant.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team as early as possible. You will be responsible for supporting children with Autism in their academic and personal development, working closely with their experienced teachers and multi-disciplinary team to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment.

To be successful in this role, you must be a team player with a can-do attitude, willing to go above and beyond to ensure our students receive the best possible support. You will be proactive in your approach, identifying areas for improvement and taking the initiative to implement solutions. You will play a vital role in supporting children with Autism by providing the necessary support, guidance and encouragement to help them succeed in their academic and personal development.

What's expected from you?

  • To provide one-to-one support, guidance and assistance in the classroom and during other learning activities
  • To work closely with the classroom teacher to create a personalised learning programme tailored to the student's needs and abilities
  • To provide social and emotional support to the student, ensuring that the student is fully included in all aspects of school life
  • To work closely with other professionals such as Speech and Language therapists and/or Occupational Therapists to ensure that the student receives the appropriate therapy and support to develop their skills and abilities

Important attitudes and personality traits that are essential for this role

  • Patience: Children with SEN may require extra time and support to understand concepts and complete tasks. You should have patience to work with students who may take longer to grasp new concepts or need additional support
  • Empathy: You should empathise with the students you support. You should be able to understand and appreciate the unique challenges that each child faces and be able to provide emotional support when needed
  • Flexibility: You should be flexible and able to adapt to the changing needs of the students and the classroom
  • You should have a creative approach to supporting students with learning difficulties
  • Team player: You should be a team player and be able to work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other professionals such as therapists or educational psychologist
  • Proactive: You should be proactive and take initiative to identify and address the needs of the students you are supporting
