Classroom Support are thrilled to be working with an incredible SEN Support School (Key Stages 1 & 2) in Chelmsford!

Long-term positions are available; they start as temporary and move onto permanent contracts after a 12–14-week period.

The school are currently looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students who demonstrate challenging behaviour. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting such students in 1:1 and group settings.

The school is proficient in identifying the early needs of children with SEN and provide high levels of well-targeted support. New staff can expect a warm welcome and long-term support due to the school’s fantastic support mechanisms and facilities.

A successful Teaching Assistant will be an enthusiastic, hardworking individual with experience supporting students who demonstrate challenging behaviours. Ideal candidates will have experience supporting such students in 1:1 and group settings and have first-hand experience working with children with SEN such as ADHD, Autism, ASD or other SEN.

There is a highly competitive rate of pay which is £375 - £400 a week, depending on experience for working hours of 8.45am-3.45pm.

Working days are Monday-Friday, term-time only. To start in March.

Roles & Responsibilities:

· Supporting children in the classroom, particularly in a 1:1 setting where a relationship of trust can be built

· Carrying out delegated tasks by classroom teachers in a positive manner

· Using effective behaviour management techniques

· Promoting the school’s culture and ethos

· Be willing to participate in lunch-time cover.

Candidate Requirements

· Must have experience of working within a school in the past 2 years

· Must have experience of supporting students with challenging behaviour, ASD or ADHD and be of a calm but firm nature

· Minimum requirement of holding a level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification.

· Must have or be willing to pay for a DBS on the update service.

· Advantageous holding of a Teaching Assistant qualification

· Advantageous to have previous experience in the care sector

· Advantageous to have previous teaching/tutoring/mentoring experience

· Advantageous to have personal experience working with close family/siblings with SEN
