The Security Operations Manager’s role is to ensure a compliant security operation whilst delivering the best airport passenger service in the world by making every journey better. The role of the Security Operations Manager (SOM) is to lead the daily operational performance of security, motivating and leading a team of Security Managers to deliver through the main KPI’s of Safety, Protection, Service and Efficiency.

As the level 3 manager on shift, you will attend escalated incidents and liaise to the Airport Operations Manager team and appropriate authorities when required. As part of a centrally deployed team, you will be part of one operational team to deliver efficient and effective service.

To succeed in this role, you will have experience in a a busy operational/security background and have experience in leading large teams. Candidates should be passionate about delivering excellent customer service in a dynamic environment.

This role will be based at the terminals and is shift based.


  • Leading and motivating a team of operational Security Managers Improve performance delivery within each Business Unit
  • Work with colleagues to achieve the agreed business targets
  • Manage each shift to ensure effective use of resource Day to day management of a shift team in a manner which ensures operational excellence
  • Liaise with the Security engagement and security compliance Manager to ensure the day-to-day team are meeting People and protection compliance Ensure that the BU is maintained in a clean and tidy manner and is safe for daily operational readiness
  • Deliver and sustain improved performance against all related KPIs contributing to the development of longer-term strategies

  • Management experience within or outside of HAL
  • DfT level 3 ASM
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Forward thinking
  • Ability to work under pressure
