Mitie has a great opportunity for experienced Security Officers in Manchester. You will be contracted to a minimum of 10 hours a week, every Sunday, with a pay rate of £10.90 per hour. The vacancies are to support the Sunday Car Boot operation at New Smithfield Market.

There is a choice of a 06:00 - 16:00 shift and a 08:00 - 18:00 shift.

You will have the opportunity to work more hours, if you make yourself available. You will report to the sites Security Shift Manager. A SIA Door Supervision licence is preferred, but not essential for this role.

Main Duties

  • As the first point of contact to all customers and clients, the Security Officer must be geographically aware of their local surroundings.
  • There will be long periods of patrolling/standing in all weather conditions, so someone who is not phased by working in an outdoor environment is desirable.
  • The Security Officer must spot and stop all suspicious sightings or potential criminal activity and retain full control until the arrival of emergency services.
  • Report to the Security Shift Manager – record, report and escalate all sightings and arrests on a regular basis.

The ideal candidate

  • The Security Officer will demonstrate their character as determined, trustworthy, attentive and approachable at all times when welcoming clients and customers.
  • The Security Officer will need to be a team player with an enthusiastic attitude.
  • The Security Officer should be able to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills is essential (written and verbal).
  • Security experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Flexible approach to work to suit the business needs.
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Understand the Health and Safety at Work Act, relevant Criminal, Civil Law and Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
