Salary: £19,215 - £20,912 (pro rata 38 weeks)

Contract: Permanent – 40 Hours per week – 38 weeks a year (Term Time Only)

Happy to consider Full Time and Part Time applicants (minimum 20 hours per week)

Location: Ashley Down Independence Training Facility (BS7)


About the Role:

City of Bristol College is seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive Security Officer (Nights) to join our team at our Independence Training Facilities at Ashley Down (BS7). Our Independence Training Facilities are for students with learning difficulties and disabilities who are attending College study programmes.

The Security Officer (Nights) will work 40 hours per week across the following hours:

What you’ll be responsible for/what we are looking for:

You’ll remain awake in case any of the students wake up in the night and will be responsible for ensuring the Ashley Down Independence Training Facility is secure. The successful candidate will monitor and maintain security of college assets and ensure a safe environment for all service users and staff. You will also undertake a range of security, patrolling, first response maintenance and front of house duties.

Other duties include:

  • Patrolling buildings, grounds and car park, reporting on incidents of acts of vandalism, checking validation of students, staff and visitors and monitoring student behaviour
  • Monitoring of the CCTV system
  • Be the first point of contact for all students through the hours of 22:30 -06:30 and to alert the sleeping member of staff when required to deal with an incident
  • Ensure all visitors have left the Ashley Down Centre by 22:30
  • Carry out operational day to day tasks as a member of a team or individually
  • Being in regular contact with the Security Officer (Nights) at the Brislington Centre
  • Receiving out of hours phone calls and triaging as necessary

We are looking for someone with experience of working waking nights and are able to lone work, assess situations as they arise and make appropriate judgements. Someone who is confident in working in a fast-paced environment, with changing priorities.
