4 on 4 off (Day shifts 07:00 – 19:00)
Serco on behalf of Great Western Hospital aims to maintain a calm, safe and secure environment where staff, patients and visitors are confident of their personal safety. To ensure this, we are looking for a Security Officer to join our team to provide support and assistance to all patients, visitors, and staff both routinely but also when faced with difficult and distressing situations. This may include assisting staff when faced with forceful individuals and when necessary, could involve undertaking verbal defence and influence and control and restraint techniques.
Main Accountabilities
As the Security Officer you will patrol the site both internally and externally and activate or de-activate alarms when needed and wear issued P.P.E body armours. As part of the role, you will deal with Operation of Body Worn Cameras, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) in accordance with operational instructions, SIA Legislation and approved code of practise. (PACE) Providing footage of incidents to required authorities when requested. You will also use IT software in relation to security and access control operations etc.
This is an incredibly important role within the Hospital as you are ensuring that patients, staff, and visitors are kept safe at all times.
What you’ll need to do the role
You need to be able to demonstrate previous Security experience, preferably within a healthcare environment or retail setting. You will need a valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence, and it is preferable that you have SIA Security CCTV Licence. As this is a customer facing role, it is important that you have good communication skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy when dealing with stressful customers. You will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to remain calm when working under pressure and must be confident and flexible in all situations particularly when working with Mental Health Patients.
Although experience would be advantageous and preferred, training may be considered to the exceptional candidate that can demonstrate the values required to become successful in this position.
