Job description
St George’s Hospital in Tooting is seeking suitably experienced individuals to fill security officer posts in its 24/7 security service. You will need to have an understanding of the special character of an NHS security service which is to care for patients and visitors often in pain or distress. In addition you will have a more conventional security role in managing violence, crime reduction and car parking on the hospital site often working closely with the police. This is shift work and shifts are 12 hour shifts. Please read the job description for more information.
You will need to be fully physically fit and able to run to incidents.
You need to have a good understanding of and an ability to communicate in English
You will need a good basic knowledge of IT such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and the use of databases.
All candidates will undergo fitness, literacy and basic IT tests on the recruitment day.
The fitness test will consist of a beep test in the gym (pass mark of 5), 20 press-ups, 20 sit ups and best effort on a squat wall sit.

To work with the security team to provide a security service that will protect, offer advice, investigate and act to create and maintain a safe and crime-free environment 24 hours a
day, 365 days per annum. The security team throughout the Trust are required to balance the needs of the visitors’ experience with the security of the premises. Good interpersonal skills with strong oral
communication are essential. Officers will be required to maintain a high level of personal appearance, be physically fit and able to conduct themselves appropriately in a customer facing role at all times. The ability to work as a team member and to support colleagues in the
completion of their duties are essential within this role.
