Duties:
To work as part of the operational security team, responsible for providing a comprehensive support service in the hospital environment.
The primary function is to provide an effective security service for staff, patients, and visitors to ensure a safe and secure environment. You will be required to work in many areas of the hospital site following the required training. To provide a high quality responsive, efficient and effective patient support service to wards and departments within client's premises acting in a caring and professional manner.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide an immediate response for requests of assistance of violent and aggressive situations from patients and visitors ensuring that their personal safety and the safety of staff, patients and visitors is maintained.
- Provide a security presence in agreed locations and provide a responsive service as required.
- Upon request of staff assist with requests to watch/monitor patients that may be at risk of absconding or harm to themselves or others.
- Respond to all alarm activations (intruder, panic alarms) for all Trust buildings and grounds and take appropriate actions, as necessary.
- Provide a response to all fire incidents in accordance with set procedures.
- Undertake reception duties from the security control room as and when required.
- Provide escort duties as required.
- Perform regular security patrols of hospital car parks, grounds and buildings acting as a deterrent to criminal activity and anti-social behaviour and ensure all suspicious incidents are reported and any untoward behaviour is challenged as required.
- Respond to reports of persons trapped in lifts, providing reassurance and assistance as required.
- Check all buildings out of hours to ensure they are secure.
- Management of lost and found property ensuring items are recorded, handled, and stored in accordance with clients site procedures.
- Liaise with police, when required, for investigations into any offences committed on site and provide statements as necessary.
- Proactively monitor CCTV system ensuring compliance with the ICO Code of Practice, GDPA and Trust policy and procedure. (CCTV Licencing would be an advantage but training will be provided)
- When worn ensure the correct procedures for the use of body worn cameras, including recording and preserving information are followed at all times.
- Familiarise and adhere to the site-specific assignment instructions at all times.
- Control and issue of keys.
- Record all tasks and duties onto the daily report log.
- Completion of 24 hours report and circulation as instructed.
- Report all incidents attended accurately onto the Trust Datix reporting system.
- Complete restraint forms as and when required.
- Locking and unlocking of doors and gates in line with Trust agreed procedures.
- Carry out cash escort duties.
- Assist in the cordoning of any specified area/roadway to ensure timely delivery of goods, to enable works to be undertaken and to maintain traffic flow on site.
Frequently exposed to unpleasant working conditions and unavoidable exposure to physical aggression and verbal abuse. This may include the use of physical restraint/clinical holding which specific training will be provided.
Due to the nature of the role supporting patient centred care under the supervision of a registered Health care professional an enhanced DBS will be required for the role.
Job Overview

- Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key performance indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.

Main Duties
Operations
- To be aware of and ensure compliance with all aspects of policies and relevant legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK Law and Guidance bodies.
- Fully and satisfactorily complete all of the tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI's).
- Proactively refer to and review the published Assignment Instructions, thus familiarising oneself with any changes in order to suggest additional amendments that will improve or enhance the current level of service.
- To be compliant with Industry and Statutory Legislation (you are required to obtain a front-line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision), which must be worn at all times whilst carrying out your duties. The Customer also requires a CCTV PSS SIA Licence. There are also additional courses that are contractually required.

Training
- Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
- To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Account Manager.
- Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.
- You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety
- Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
- Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
- Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
- To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
- Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
- Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
- To ensure check calls are being carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI's).
- To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.
What we are looking for
