Security Officer- Slough
We are recruiting for a Security Officer for a large data centre premises for our client whom are a large technology based company. As a Security Officer you will be required to uphold and carry out policies and procedures to ensure we manage any potential risk. You will be responsible for carrying out all the daily security functions as outlined below whilst ensuring a consistent, professional, and excellent service. You will be expected to understand and deliver concise, daily reporting, and to escalate any potential risks or area of concerns through their Chain of Command. You will deliver exceptional customer service and be an effective communicator between the client and their customers. You will be required to work as a team, whilst at the same time being self-sufficient within their duties.

Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in the role of Security Officer, the following qualifications are required. Additional qualifications may be required, depending upon the nature of the role:
- Must pass an interview selection process including a computer proficiency quiz
- Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, behavioral selection survey, any mandatory licensing/re-licensing requirements, and have the right to work in the UK. These include:
- Criminal Background Check (CRB)
- SIA Licensed (SG/DS)
- SIA Licensed (CCTV) – Not required but preferred
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Excellent Verbal and written communication skills, both in the primary local language and English, to communicate with employees and clients, observe and report incidents, and direct others.
- Proficient knowledge of computers, to include operation of Microsoft Office Suite and associated applications.
- Able to be an effective team member.
- Self-starter, able to make decisions based on training and policy/procedure.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form
- Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures
- Professional and presentable manner
Working Conditions

Essential Functions

- Ensure full compliance will all relevant government regulations
- Adhere to all set policies and procedures by G4S and the Client.
- Ready to work any open post which may occur during the shift.
- Completes all required monthly, quarterly, and annual training from G4S and the client. Completes any necessary refresher training.
- Maintains composure when interacting with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
- Supports their Site Lead with any additional tasks to achieve set security standards on site.
- Familiar with all areas of the facility and site specifics (i.e., exterior door numbers, battery rooms, generators, Equinix and customer cage locations, cabinets, and cage numbers).
- Has complete knowledge of all office/security equipment
- Has complete knowledge of all the client's policy and procedures, including:
- Health and Safety Policies/Procedures
- Asset Tracking Procedures, tracking all items coming/leaving the facility
- Maintains necessary paperwork and logs throughout the shift
- Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions following procedures established for the site, by the company, and/or through training or certification
- Has complete knowledge of Access Control, including:
- Access Control Systems (ACS) (i.e., AMAG, Siebel, etc.)
- Controls access to client site or facility through the admittance process; assists visitors with a legitimate need to gain entry to the facility; screens visitors and client employees in an efficient manner in order to expedite their admittance to the site or facility.
- Monitors CCTV footage while on site
- Monitors all alarms coming into the ACS and responds accordingly
- Completes patrols of the facility (CCTV and Foot) internal and external
- Conducts investigations on all incidents and breaches, including documentation and reporting
- Creates Condition Reports according to policy
- Documents daily activities in the Daily Activity Report (DAR)
- Works in coordination with the Site Lead in completing the necessary Scorecard documentation.
- Portrays a positive image and demonstrates excellent customer service
- Escalates all concerns internally following an established Chain of Command/reporting structure
- Follows all other reasonable management and client requests as and when raised.
About You
Due to licensing requirements, you must be over 18 to apply for this position. You will be a confident communicator who is a team player with the drive to provide a friendly and professional service at all times. Good IT knowledge is also key. You will be required to work on a varied shift pattern which will include days, nights and weekends on a 42 hour contract per week. It would be a benefit to have some security experience and your SIA licence, however it’s not essential, as we provide full SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence training.
