Security and Vetting Officer

Southampton

An opportunity has arisen for a Security and Vetting Officer to join the team at Galliford Try.

Ideally, you will based in or around the Southampton Area.

What you will be doing:

The NSVO will

  • Liaise with the site management team and supply chain to identify individuals needing security clearance.
  • Issue forms to applicants. Advise applicant on carrying out Basic Criminal Record Disclosure.
  • On completion of the forms, meet individuals to check the forms and supporting information are all correct (very often the applicant will need to provide additional information or ID, so this may occur more than once per applicant) and to check and copy their ID.
  • Take up the 2 references (phone calls)
  • Advise successful applicant and confirm to them their obligations – obtain signature.
  • Maintain a BPSS register and copy to GT Security Manager
  • Liaise with guard room to arrange for access passes for those with BPSS. Issue passes if appropriate
  • At the appropriate time, notify anyone who’s BPSS will need renewing prior to the project completion

About You:

Prior to carrying out their duties, the NSVO will need to obtain SC (Security Check) clearance (not necessarily before appointment).

They will receive training by GT Security Manager to carry out their duties and will receive continued support where required.

This is mainly an administrative role which requires a systematic and thorough approach.

All NSVO duties are to be carried out in strict compliance with GDPR.
