Post: Music Teacher Location: Birmingham Position: Full time Start Date: September 2023 Salary: £25,000-£40,000 per annum We are seeking a talented and passionate Music Teacher to join our secondary school faculty starting in September 2023. As a Music Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and nurture students' musical abilities, foster their appreciation for music, and guide them in their musical journey. Responsibilities: Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive music lessons that align with the school's curriculum and educational standards. Teach students various aspects of music, including music theory, vocal techniques, instrument playing, music history, and composition. Facilitate practical music sessions, rehearsals, and performances to enhance students' musical skills, teamwork, and self-confidence. Organise and conduct school choirs, bands, or orchestras, offering opportunities for students to showcase their musical talents. Incorporate technology and digital tools into music lessons, exposing students to music production, recording techniques, and music software. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves through music and collaborating with their peers. Encourage students to participate in music competitions, festivals, and community performances, promoting their artistic growth and development. Assess and evaluate students' musical progress through performances, examinations, projects, and other forms of assessment. Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students, helping them improve their musical skills and techniques. Collaborate with colleagues to organise school concerts, recitals, and music-related events, involving the wider school community. Stay updated with advancements in music education, instructional methods, and technology, integrating innovative teaching strategies into the curriculum. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and progress, and communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student performance and engage them in their child's musical education. Promote a positive and respectful classroom environment, fostering a love for music, and nurturing students' artistic growth. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, specialising in Music or a related field. Strong knowledge of music theory, music history, vocal techniques, and various musical instruments. Experience teaching music or a related subject at the secondary school level, demonstrating a passion for inspiring students' musical talents. Proficiency in playing at least one musical instrument and the ability to teach it effectively. Familiarity with music software, music production, and recording techniques is advantageous. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students, explain musical concepts, and lead ensemble performances. Ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where students of diverse backgrounds and abilities can thrive. Strong organisational skills to plan and deliver effective lessons, manage resources, and coordinate musical events. Passion for music and a dedication to nurturing students' creativity, musical skills, and appreciation for different forms of music. Collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a team, contributing to the development and improvement of the music curriculum and school-wide musical activities.
