CDP is looking for a scrum master who is passionate about the power of data to solve environmental issues. The scrum master will be applying agile principles across delivery teams at CDP to ensure reduced delivery cycles, increased product quality and creation of autonomous, high-performing, self-organising teams,
This role is central to ensuring delivery of world-class digital products, digital services, and platforms and to continue to change the delivery culture across CDP.

Data and Insight teams
The Data and Insight Team’s primary remit is to improve the usability of the climate change, water, forests, and cities data disclosed to CDP through robust and transparent methods. The teams create sustainable data pipelines for data quality monitoring, data cleaning, reporting and data science modelling. Harmonised data collected from external sources will enrich the data assets’ value and enhance accessibility for CDP’s stakeholders. The teams produce value-adding insight delivering it through data products that help internal and external stakeholders to better understand the quantitative and qualitative results of their actions. This in turn helps stakeholders to make data-led decisions and optimise for all constraints. Through every stage the data assets are governed by the industry practice standards in a robust and transparent manner.
Key responsibilities include:
- Encourage product teams to practice the core principles of collaboration, prioritisation, team autonomy, accountability, and transparency (Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
- Ensure all work and progress is visible and bottlenecks in the delivery process are eliminated.
- Improve delivery practice and governance.
- Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency by establishing “information radiators.
- Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver the product goals.
- Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution.
- Empower the teams to self-organize.
- Foster a culture of continuous Improvement within the team and wider development function.
- Coach and Support product owners with product roadmaps, product backlog creation, prioritisation, and assessment.
- Engage Stakeholders to maximise delivery value and reduce risk.
- Identify and manage risks and issues.
- Manage dependencies.
- Coach teams and wider organisation on agile values, principles, and Techniques.
- Establish and facilitate feedback cycles to enable quick change of development direction and prioritise business value.
You will have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria:
- At least 3 years working as a scrum master delivering digital products.
- Stakeholder engagement – able to build relationships and use expertise to influence and shape delivery plans and strategies.
- Creation of the product roadmaps.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Managing multiple deliveries across multiple data teams.
- Good skills and knowledge in facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, and empowerment.
- Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, BDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
- Backlog management, prioritisation and estimation including User Story write ups.
Desirable criteria:
- Digital delivery – has a track record of working on and has led DevOps delivery.
- Exposure in Climate Change data legislation, practices, and stakeholders.
- Experience in Environmental related industries i.e., Water, Energy, Forestry related.
- Commercial/financial skills – managed budgets, understands the product funding cycles.
This is a full-time based at CDP’s London office reporting to the Head of Data Science & Products.
Salary and benefits: £45,500 - £46,500 per annum, 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, training and development, flexible working opportunities and other benefits.
