World Leader in Blood Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Centre of Excellence in Witney for the development and manufacture of electrodes and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The site has been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.
To support our continued site expansion, we currently have an opportunity within the R&D team for an experienced Scientist to join us. This team provide product R&D support activities through scientific experimentation and concept development. This position is at the heart of the R&D team and your input and delivery of results will be instrumental in the achievement of key product and process innovations in both the UK, Ireland and the US. In this role, you will support different test processes, assessing the performance of our product, as well as aiding design of experimentation, concept development and sterile barrier system advancements. You should be excited about working in a fast-paced environment within a hard-working and welcoming team. You will be keen to grow your technical and scientific knowledge, as well as analysing data, evaluating results and forming conclusions, and using your technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.
To be successful, you will ideally be degree qualified in a scientific discipline and bring experience of working in an industry environment. Experience working in a regulated environment is preferred. Experience working with medical device packaging is desirable.
The ideal candidates will be a proactive individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a team. You will need to have good communication, analytical and time management skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. There will be opportunity to collaborate within R&D, and with quality, operations and engineering functions in the UK, Ireland and the US.
