Job Purpose
Working closely with the Chief Science Officer, you will play an important and exciting role in the development of NuKoKo. We will be running a series of experiments and tests from our home at Surrey Research Park that will give us the data we require to progress our prototype products. Your role as scientific laboratory technician is to provide all the required technical support within the laboratory to deliver this necessary data.

Lab Technician Duties:
➔ Designing and executing laboratory experiments, recording observations, and interpreting findings.
➔ Collecting, receiving, labelling, and analysing samples or substances using the correct testing procedures.
➔ Maintaining up to date logs and notebooks to accurately record daily activity.
➔ Recording all procedures, data and results accurately and in the specified format
(written, and/or electronic e.g. spreadsheet or electronic notebook)
➔ Preparing and presenting reports of experiments and tests, both verbally and in writing.
➔ Ensuring that safety guidelines are adhered to at all times within the laboratory.
➔ Organising and storing all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
➔ Cleaning, sterilising, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment as required.
➔ Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.
➔ Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.
About You:
➔ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in food science, microbiology, biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
➔ Practical experience working in a laboratory.
➔ Knowledge and experience of manipulating microorganisms using standard culturing techniques.
➔ Ability to implement and follow safe working practices within a laboratory setting, including the handling of potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards, etc.)
➔ Ability to accurately follow instructions.
➔ Ability to work eectively autonomously and under pressure.
➔ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
➔ Keen attention to detail.
➔ Analytical skills.
Salary: £22-25K (dependent on experience)
