You execute the scientific affairs strategy for your respective categories and geographical area using your scientific and regulatory expertise. You advocate for Mondelēz’s regulatory and scientific positions to promote the removal of technical barriers and to enable our “Snacking Made Right” strategy. In addition, you build, maintain and leverage your established relationships with leading trade associations, government agencies and academia and guide the execution of policies and scientific and regulatory programs.
How you will contribute
You will implement the scientific affairs strategy, ensuring it is aligned with business needs and strategies, and work with cross-functional teams to anticipate business risks and opportunities. In addition, you will educate others on the implications of science affairs issues and develop plans to mitigate risks. You will influence external discussions for company priority issues, provide scientific affairs leadership with technical regulatory developments, and help with responses to challenges and crisis management. In this role, you will also provide guidance, direction and potential growth opportunities in scientific affairs that will support strategic growth initiatives and propose and implement business solutions to external regulatory changes.

What you need to know about this position:
Provides thought leadership, strategy and governance for Scientific Affairs (SA) for all categories and respective geographical area(s). Advocates for Mondelez regulatory and scientific positions with external stakeholders to promote removal of technical barriers and enable our Snacking Made Right strategy. Anticipating potential threats, risks, opportunitie s and emerging issues and scans the horizon for future issues. Leverages relationships, engage s and influences with leading Trade Associations, government agencies and academic KO L . Co-leads development of policies/positions and provide s Scientific Affairs direction.
WHAT YOU WILL DO - RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and implements the Scientific Affairs strategy in alignment with business needs and strategies.
Anticipates business risks and opportunities and works with strategic stakeholders to facilitate of issue resolution.
Influences external dialogue for company priority issues .
Strongly influences the nutrition & health, ingredient & technology policy agenda of the UK & EU Government .
Provides Scientific Affairs leadership for technical regulatory developments, supports responses to challenges and crisis management, develops robust positions and policies.
Educates on Scientific Affairs implications of issues and develops proactive plans to mitigate risks.
Communicates on a regular basis with key internal stakeholders including Public Affairs to ensure alignment of strategies, priorities and activities.
Fosters a culture of collaboration across the global community, identify and apply consistent best practices and ways of working.
Leads, develops SA team.
Job specific requirements:
Broad experience and understanding of the Scientific Affairs/Regulatory Affairs landscape (globally and regionally/ industry, governmental, association background). Extensive experience working in scientific, regulatory affairs at a senior level.
Strong external network with key stakeholders (peer companies, regulators, trade associations, academics, NGOs) particularly across the UK market.
MSc or PhD in Nutrition, F ood S cience, F ood E ngineering or similar scientific discipline.
Strong understanding of scientific, regulatory and nutrition issues in the food space and actions/interests of NGOs and governments related to these issues.
Proven ability to lead and grow colleagues.
Strong ability to build collaborative relationships and networks to influence outcomes.
Strong ability to drive the scientific affairs agenda with internal business partners and external
Demonstrated ability to lead technical assessments, issues management and strategy development.
Demonstrated ability to lead an engaged team and develop talent.
Strong communication and influencing & negotiation skills
The responsibilities of this position are performed within the framework of a regional business model that is defined and managed by Mondelēz Europe GmbH, Switzerland .
