The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the professional services team within the School of Engineering. As Education Assistant, you will support the annual cycle of education activities in a large and diverse school, responding to student queries and providing administrative support to academic colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the School’s taught programmes.
The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of seniority. The ability to work as part of a collaborative team, to work efficiently and with flexibility are essential.
You should be educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) and have an up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, as well as experience of working in a similar role or busy office environment.

The position is offered on a full-time basis (37 hours per week) and is open-ended, with an immediate start date.

Key Accountabilities
Guide and support students and academic colleagues with standard queries and general requests in an efficient and timely manner, referring onwards where appropriate
Work alongside the Education Team to check and update student data using University systems
Provide and update documentation and data collection for Education processes which could include updating modules, regulations, and timetabling activities
Provide support for School events such as student induction, student social events and University and School visit days
To act as secretary to designated meetings and committees including agenda preparation and circulation, producing bullet point actions and monitoring progress of actions

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Ability to manage time effectively
Effective planning and organisational skills with ability to solve problems
Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft suite of programmes
Flexible attitude to work demands and customers with a commitment to excellent customer service
Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
An excellent communicator both verbally and in writing with the ability to tailor messages to the appropriate audiences
Takes responsibility for meeting own targets

Qualifications
Maths and English at GCSE Level 4 or equivalent
Relevant work experience in an administrative or customer service setting
