Job description
Daily Tasks
· To undertake all aspects of cleaning flooring, walls, fixtures and fittings, and equipment to standard and frequency outlined in the Cleaning specification according to the cleaning rota or as directed.
· To clean flooring using appropriate equipment and machinery including buffing machines, carpet shampooers etc.
· To clean and maintain all equipment to the highest standard.
· To use cleaning materials and cleaning equipment safely as designated to avoid damage to other persons, property, fittings and furniture.
· To be aware of and follow COSHH guidelines for all cleaning materials utilising the correct chemical and equipment for each task.
· To ensure equipment and cleaning materials are stored tidily in designated areas and returned there at the end of each working day.
· To ensure care is taken at all times to avoid causing hazards to all persons on site utilising the correct warning signs when appropriate.
· To move furniture during certain cleaning operations, returning it to its original position following cleaning.
- To report anything in need of repair or replacement to the appropriate person
- Be familiar with the required care standards regulations governing your job
· To complete checklists and report any variations from the cleaning specification and reasons for these.
· To maintain polite and good communication with your colleagues and School staff at all time
· To be flexible to alterations made to the daily, weekly, termly and annual working routines and provide cover for absence as required.
- To report immediately any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate or possible.
· To attend to any reasonable requests made by management, adopting a flexible approach at all times
Person Specification
· Physically capable of operating floor cleaning machinery such as but not limited to buffing machines, scrubber dryers and carpet shampooers.
· Well presented with excellent personal hygiene in line with statutory and legislative requirements
· Able & confident to work on own
· Self motivated with a cheerful disposition able to consistently work unsupervised to defined standards
· Reliable, honest and trustworthy
· An excellent timekeeper
· Flexible in approach to working areas
· Emotionally robust
Skills
· Previous cleaning experience
· Level 2 certificate in health and safety (or willingness to undertake training)
· A team worker demonstrating a ‘can-do’ attitude at all times
· Ability to work shifts
· Effective communication skills
· A cheerful disposition
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract
Part-time hours: 20-25 per week
Salary: £10.25 per hour
