Making A Difference as a School Meals Driver within the School Traded Services.
The Catering Service within St Helens Borough Council have a vacancy for a School meals driver to collect and deliver meals to School Kitchens throughout the Borough.
The hours of work are 18.75 per week. Hours of work will vary, subject to the needs of the service.
You will be part of a small group of drivers covering deliveries across the borough to our schools. As part of the role you will also be required to complete deliveries/collections of non food items.
You will be required to carry out and record routine safety checks on vehicles before setting out on route, and reporting any faults, to ensure vans are kept in serviceable state.
You will be responsible for the manual handling of food containers and reporting damage/repairs
You must be flexible and able to cover for any absences of other School Meals Drivers including during school holiday periods.
This role will also require you to undertake some General Kitchen Assistant duties.
You should have knowledge of basic hygiene principles, health and safety procedures and hazards, and you may also be expected to undertake some basic routine paperwork.
