Job Brief
We are looking for a skilled Scenic Artist who lives in or around the Dundee area to perform all tasks related to scenic art. Including but not limited to; Weathering, Priming, Painting, Texturing, Detailing, Finishing to a high standard (with an overall naturalistic style).
Being reliable with a keen eye for detail is the first step to getting this job. The ideal candidate will have experience with all aspects of scenic artwork as well as knowledge of tools required for each task.
Responsibilities
- Time management
- Attention to detail in all aspects of their work
- Reporting to the Head Scenic Artist
- Following design plans as required
- Theming/Dressing
- Assisting and working with the Prop Builders where necessary
- Repairs and touch ups as required
- Seeing the project through from initial layering/base coats through to the finishes
Skills
- Knowledge of layering techniques
- Colour mixing and matching
- Sculpting and carving
- Art and Design background (Desired)
- Variety of painting techniques
- Product knowledge in regards to paints, finishes, glazes ect.
- Ability to work solo as well as part of a larger team
What makes a great Scenic Artist?
Reliability and an eye for detail. Able to work alone and self-motivate as well as merge seamlessly into a larger team. Using initiative in regard to all aspects of scenic artwork. Time management is also key. High quality of work while always thinking about the end user. Awareness of safety in regard to materials used.
