Position Overview: As a Scare Actor for the "Phobia" event at Puxton Park, you will play a pivotal role in creating a terrifying and thrilling atmosphere for visitors. You will be responsible for bringing to life various terrifying characters and scenarios that are designed to evoke fear and excitement among attendees. Your performance will contribute to the overall success of the event by delivering a memorable and engaging experience for all participants.
Responsibilities:
- Embody assigned scare character roles and bring them to life with convincing acting and improvisation.
- Create and maintain a consistent character portrayal throughout the event, adhering to the provided character brief.
- Engage with visitors in a scare-inducing manner, utilizing well-timed surprises and frights.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure the well-being of both visitors and fellow actors.
- Collaborate with fellow scare actors and event staff to synchronize scare sequences and enhance the overall guest experience.
- Attend rehearsals and training sessions as required to refine scare techniques and receive feedback.
- Maintain awareness of crowd dynamics and adjust scare tactics accordingly to ensure safety and enjoyment for all visitors.
- Be prepared to adapt to changing circumstances, crowd sizes, and visitor reactions.
- Assist in setting up and tearing down scare zones, props, and decorations as needed.
- Attend team meetings and discussions to stay updated on event details and changes.
Qualifications:
- Prior acting, theatre, or performance experience is preferred.
- Ability to portray characters convincingly and adapt acting techniques to different scare scenarios.
- Comfortable with working in dimly lit, enclosed, and potentially loud environments.
- Strong improvisational skills to interact with guests in various scenarios.
- Excellent communication skills to convey scares and excitement without using words.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and committed to the event's schedule.
- Physically able to stand, move, and perform scares for extended periods.
- Minimum age requirement: 16
Working Conditions:
- This position involves working in dimly lit and potentially confined spaces.
- The role requires interacting with visitors of all ages, including children.
- Scare actors may need to wear specialized costumes and makeup to achieve the desired character appearance.
- The work environment includes loud noises, sudden movements, and sudden bursts of light.
