Computer Technician (SCADA/Telecoms)
Location: Aberdeen

This offshore position will be on a rotation of 2/3 mobilising from Aberdeen
Key Responsibilities: -
- Maintain the integrity, availability and effective operation of the installation’s IS equipment in accordance with client and statutory requirements
- Perform planned maintenance, trouble-shooting, commissioning, inspection, repairs and overhauls on the installation’s IS systems as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor
- Perform the role of Systems Administrator for the installation’s IS systems
- Issue, install and update computer software
- Properly document and accurately report all maintenance, configurations, repairs, overhauls, adjustments and inspections
- Ensure detailed and accurate records of planned/unplanned maintenance activities are recorded within the CMMS (Maximo) and workload managed to minimise backlog
- Review any proposed IS modifications/workpacks prior to implementation and feedback as appropriate
- Provide feedback on progress/activities/technical issues as required
- Ensure all jobs are accompanied by the necessary and accurately completed documentation
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment
Other Responsibilities / Duties: -
- Ensure that the work conditions and environment are maintained in a safe and healthy condition
- Act responsibly and takes all necessary precautions to protect themselves, fellow workers and any other persons who may be affected by their activities from injury and preventable illness
- Ensure that any defects in working practices, machinery, tools, equipment, protective measures and protective clothing are immediately brought to the attention of management so that steps can be instigated to remedy the defect or take the equipment out of service until repaired or made safe
- In the event of an emergency, carry out such duties as identified in the station bill/emergency response procedure or as directed by the OIM. Personnel are required to undertake the training to equip them for these roles
- The listing of main responsibilities and main duties is not necessarily exhaustive and may be changed at Management’s discretion to reflect the needs of the Company. All personnel will be expected to assist other disciplines in their routine tasks as directed, in order to ensure that operational efficiency is maximised.
Key Skills / Qualifications / Competencies: -
- OND/ONC/City and Guilds (or higher) in a relevant discipline
- NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline
- Experience of various SCADA and PLC Control Systems including fault finding and upgrades
- Basic process knowledge (desirable).
- Server administration and maintenance
- Competent in maintaining IS systems in hazardous areas
- Instrumentation knowledge for systems interface
- Competent in evaluating and resolving IS operational problems
- Knowledge and proficiency of CMMS (Maximo)
- Ability to work as a member of a team and communicate effectively with onshore and offshore staff at all levels
- Demonstrate a high commitment to the Safety Management System and safe systems of work
- Understand and comply with the installation’s Safety Case and statutory requirements
- A pro-active approach to solving problems and getting the job done
- Self-motivated, energetic and tenacious
- SAFETY - Quickly gain familiarity with, and have an understanding of, the Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures.
- TECHNICAL INTEGRITY - Ability to deploy operational standards, policies and procedures to meet both regulatory and safety standards
- QUALITY ASSURANCE – Ability to undertake work to meet acceptance criteria with respect to safety, health and hygiene.
- COMMUNICATION - Clear, fluent and expressive use of verbal and written language to convey information and ideas. Requirement to raise any non-conformance to supervisor in timely fashion
- PLANNING - Ability to co-ordinate daily routines covering both the technical and administrative roles
