Job Title: Sanitation Lead (Swing Shift)
Reports To: Sanitation Supervisor
Job overview:
The Sanitation Lead is responsible for leading the sanitation staff, maintaining a clean and sanitary production facility, including non-production areas as well.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily inspections of tasks assigned to the team or sanitors, good manufacturing practices, safety inspections, pre-op inspections, and food safety audits.
- Lead sanitation team members to drive engagement, inclusion as well as focus on internal customer service, improve the team efficiency, productivity and quality of work as well as the moral of the team.
- Planning cleaning schedules and proper allocation of resources (labor, supplies, equipment and time) while planning and executing for successful changeovers, daily and weekly sanitation activities.
- On a defined frequency, all the areas or zones to be swab test must always be test ready to prevent bacteria test failure (Listeria, etc.).
- Support development of sanitation standard operating procedures; support the development and help maintain sanitation manual; Understands the management of Quality Systems and is familiar with HACCP, and cGMP practices which help ensure safety within the workplace and the production of a safe and quality product(s).
- Creating and adjusting schedules for employees to prepare the plant to be audit-ready every day.
- Manage chemical and consumable inventory levels throughout the plant daily; coordinates communication and necessary activities with the chemical supplier as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitized work environment in areas such as offices, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, corridors, stair ways, locker rooms, parking lot, warehouse, etc.
- Manages disposal of facility trash and recycling program
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standing Operating Procedure (SOP)
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of the cleaning performed and inspect for areas needing attention
- Responsible for washing smocks
- Keep manager informed of any unsanitary practices that may be occurring in the warehouse
- Follow all Sanitation Equipment tool and equipment guidelines
- Wear specified company provided protective gear at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Manufacturing or related field is a plus
- At least 2 years of sanitation experience for a food manufacturer
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to speaking, reading and writing in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and emailing
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow rules and procedures
Physical Requirements:
- Able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
- Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach as needed
- Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to withstand cold temperatures working inside the freezer with protective clothing for periods of time
