Practice Overview
Joelson is a thriving commercial law firm based in the West End of London, with 60+ people. The Corporate team handles a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. In M&A we typically handle deals up to £100m. Our team is particularly active in the leisure, food and beverages sectors, though it also handles matters in other areas.
Our Corporate work covers the following sectors:
- Hospitality and Leisure

- Retail & Fashion
- Food & Drink
- Financial Services
- Media & Publishing
Our clients include start-ups, entrepreneurs, SMEs and large multi-national companies. We regularly assist clients who want to establish businesses in the UK, whether for the first time or as part of a group arrangement. We also advise on terms of trade and contractual agreements, raising finance, undertaking acquisitions or disposals, and listings on the capital markets in the UK.
Hours & Location
9.30am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday, with flexibility required outside those times on occasion.
We are offer flexibility to work from the office or at home with a minimum 2 days in the office.
Main purpose of the role
To be a key member of the Corporate team, providing a first class service to our clients on a range of Corporate matters.
- Mergers & Acquisitions
- Private Equity Transactions
- Joint Ventures
- Equity Capital Raisings (start-ups to Series A, B and C)
- Corporate Mergers and Demergers
- Commercial Agreements
- Capital Markets (AIM)
- Share Options and Share Plans
You will also find yourself involved with aspects, such as:-
- Contributing to a variety of corporate/commercial transactions and/or associated issues
- Drafting, amending and negotiating documents in respect of M&A, investments and joint ventures or shareholder arrangements
- Drafting EIS and SEIS applications with Partner support
- Companies House filings
- Drafting of warranties, ancillaries and disclosures
- Due diligence reports and virtual data room set up and management
- Collaborating with Senior team members and/or business support teams
Marketing/Business Development
- Helping with Corporate updates and preparing articles for the website and for sending out;
- Attending networking events and engaging enthusiastically with the firm’s marketing and BD initiatives.
Other Duties
- Taking responsibility for maintaining and updating your own legal knowledge;
- Managing your time recording efficiently and ensuring files on which you are working are up to date on the firm’s electronic system.
- Getting involved with a variety of Firm-wide committee initiatives to help support the culture and promotion of the Firm and its services.
Ideal Candidate
- Self-motivated and reliable individual
- Strong academic background
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in a Corporate or Commercial seat
- Solid drafting skills for a variety of corporate and commercial documents
- Adaptable communication skills, both verbal and written
- Prioritisation and administration skills to manage multiple workstreams
- A collaborative and supportive approach with colleagues and clients
- A proactive and growth mindset towards achieving goals and professional development
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and an ability to pick up new systems quickly.
