We are an small family aquatic center that has traded for nearly 40 years
This is a 3 day a week job from 0900 hours to 1800 hours. Saturday, Tuesday & Wednesday, but extra days are available if it suits you and us.
All jobs are carried out by all of the staff depending on the state of play on that particular day.
The main aim of the company is to make a profit and we do this very successfully by making each customer feel welcomed and satisfactorily served.
Your job - apart from the above - will be to set out our display every morning and put it away every evening - a task that requires heavy lifting and an artistic state of mind - Even if it is raining!!!
Then its diligent work with the vacuum cleaner on the carpets and the duster, followed by unloading and checking deliveries, moving them to the stock room - then - as required moving the stock onto the retail shelves.
Also included wil be the cleaning of the fish tanks and general care of the fish we sell - which will lead to promotion to Fish room manager,
At the same time serve customers.
You will be trained:
to understand ponds and pond equipment - graduating to be able to repair items when required.
to understand Aquariums and aquarium equipment - graduating to be able to repair items when required.
to understand Fish and fish husbandry - graduating to be able to recommend and give instructions on the use of treatments.
Therefore you have to be able to handle live fish.
We also have a specialized dog food section so you must be tolerant to dogs.
Then when you have accomplished all of that in a normal day you then have the pleasure of packing away the display you created in the morning.
So you must be fit, tolerant of fish & dogs, able to climb a step ladder, speak English and be reasonable with writing and maths.
You will be trained BUT we are a very active company so daily time is of an escence making so the ability to learn by looking is paramount.
If you apply you will be invited in for an informal chat - if we get on then you will be offered a 3 week fully paid introduction period. If you survive you will be offered a monthly on going contract.
College degrees and A levels NOT necessary!!!! and we are not impressed by CV's that begin with " I am a hard working, self motivated individual etc.etc."
The job is hard, interesting, informative and educational. The environment chaotic but friendly.
