Online Sales Assistant

At Community Transport we provide accessible transport for people with mobility or other health issues, helping them to reach services and connect with others. Supporting us to do this and generate income, we sell donated items of furniture, Operating for over 55 years CT’s services are underpinned by its values of helpfulness, honesty, excellence and diversity.

From our founder starting the organisation in the heart of Birmingham, fast forward 57 years and we are an integral part of numerous communities with our team of over 150 employees and volunteers. We provide affordable furniture and household goods, as well as accessible transport.

But we don’t intend on stopping there! Community Transport is reaching further to support more people than ever before.

The Role

As an Online Sales Assistant, you will actively contribute to the increase of sales of donated furniture and new goods. You will be responsible for planning and executing marketing campaigns across all platforms including social media, the company website and email marketing campaigns. You will develop the company website with a focus on the online shop, donation campaigns and transport services and you will have a good working knowledge of digital marketing tools such as SEO, PPC & content marketing. You will be familiar with the fundamentals of social media and provide guidance for the company's social media strategy, with experience in content creation, social networking, and an ability to monitor networks and make connections while developing new ideas and strategies. You will analyse data to measure the performance of campaigns and track sales trends.

Key responsibilities, tasks, authority, and accountability;

  • Planning and executing engaging campaigns across all digital platforms
  • Using digital marketing tools such as SEO, PPC & content marketing
  • Analysing data to manage performance of marketing campaigns and track sales trends
  • Developing the company website with a focus on the online shop, donation campaigns and transport and training services
  • Maintaining market knowledge of the competitive and consumer environment
  • Creating a database of potential commercial donors and implementing a targeted email marketing campaign
  • Responding to customer queries across all digital channels including monitoring and responding to customer reviews
  • Assisting in the training of, ongoing support and providing direction to volunteers and colleagues as required
  • Taking responsibility to reach targets set in terms of online activity, and the equivalent outcome in increased sales
  • Taking responsibility for ensuring the health and safety of yourself and your colleagues, in accordance with the requirements of the company’s Health and Safety Policy and all relevant legislation.
  • Carrying out duties with full regard to CT’s Equal Opportunities Policy, to include respect for staff and members of the public from different backgrounds, cultures and abilities.
  • Complying with the rules and procedures in the Employee Handbook.
  • Undertaking any professional training and personal development identified as appropriate to the role, as determined by your Manager.
  • Carrying out any other tasks or duties as requested

Essential skills / training;

  • Experience of working within a similar role in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience of SEO, PPC & content marketing
  • Previous social media experience across a range of platforms
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic self-starter, able to operate independently and within a team
  • Strong analytical skills and a good working knowledge of Excel and other Office software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, copywriting skills and strong attention to detail
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail who can manage time effectively to meet given deadlines
  • Hold a English and Maths GSCE, A - C or equivalent
  • Initiative, drive, enthusiasm and a "can do attitude".
