Job description

We are looking to hire a Sales Manager for UK & BENELUX region of Nash. A Nash Sales Manager will be responsible for all sales activities in the territory by managing and supporting our Area Account Managers and working directly with the key retailers.

The successful applicant's duties include providing guidance, training and mentorship, creating sales plans and setting sales goals and quotas for our Sales team. Our Sales Managers must have strong analytical skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a good understanding of customer requirements.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Achieving growth and hitting sales targets by successfully managing sales teams and by assessing the teams’ strengths and weaknesses
  • Managing key accounts within the territory, ensuring strong relationships are created and maintained, understanding their specific requirements, fostering existing growth levers, and creating new strategic growth plans
  • Developing and implementing strategic sales plans that expand the company’s customer base and solidify its presence
  • Establishing productive and professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts
  • Developing and implementing new sales initiatives, strategies and programmes to capture key demographics
  • Managing a sales team and any sales activities that may happen within the business
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasts
  • Set sales goals, compare performance to goals, and adjust goals as needed
  • Assess current team processes and procedures, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement them
  • Coach, mentor and provide feedback to team members
  • Foster a competitive yet collaborative team environment
  • Regular key client visits, either accompanied by the Area Account Manager or on your own
  • Hold regular team meetings and attend management meetings when required.
  • Involvement in the organisation of our annual trade expo

Sales Manager characteristics

To be a successful Nash Sales Manager, you must have a range of characteristics to ensure you stand out from the rest.

  • Communication skills are highlighted as important. Both written and verbal communication skills are needed as you will be confronting a wide range of people varying from employees and customers to suppliers.
  • Motivation skills. You must be able to motivate your team. Sales roles can be very stressful, especially when ambitious targets are to be met. You must be able to motivate your team so they produce the best results possible.
  • Negotiator. A key part of your role will be negotiating sales, products and prices with customers.
  • Relationship management. The ability to build and maintain strong relationships is an invaluable tool when working in sales.
  • Analytical skills. Understanding the economic climate and being able to appropriately analyse the data and understand where you can create opportunities and maximise profit is key to a Sales Managers’ success.
  • The main purpose of a Sales Manager is to ensure sales targets are being met, attract new business and develop sales tactics.
  • As with any sales occupation, the role involves sales planning, motivation, personnel-management, leadership and support. You will need to be able to show this in both presentation and forecasting.

Desirable but not essential

  • Business and/or sales related degree
  • Fishing industry experience
  • Fishing experience – preferably carp angling

The location requirements of this role are flexible, although there would be obvious benefits if you could be based at our UK HQ (Burnham-on-Crouch). Regular travel UK-wide and to BENELUX will be required.
