Up to £60,000 (depending on experience) + bonus and benefits

Your purpose
Working with the Risk & Resilience Senior Manager to enhance and embed a fit-for-purpose global health and safety strategy, facilitating health and safety governance methodologies across the group and co-ordinating the global safety management system. In addition to these global responsibilities, you will be the Competent Person for UK and Guernsey based support functional activity ensuring compliance with new and emerging health and safety legislation, and working with colleagues to identify and assess significant hazards. This role has no direct line management responsibilities.
Your role
On a global scale, you will consult, communicate, and work with business, functional and safety leaders across all Specsavers operating territories to support, guide and assess regions in Health and Safety matters. You will embed a health and safety culture within the group, facilitate sharing of good practices across business areas/territories and ensure staff are aware of their responsibilities towards creating a safe environment.
Within the UK and Guernsey Support Office functions, you will Act as the Competent Person for all Support Office activity, ensuring policies and processes are in place as appropriate. Facilitating the identification and delivery of health and safety training needs across support functions where appropriate developing training and communication materials. You will be the health and safety SME facilitating identifying and assessing significant hazards and providing technical reference support to staff on health and safety matters.
What you’ll bring
- Diploma in occupational safety & health or formal qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH certificate/NCRQ) supplemented with demonstrable skills, knowledge, and experience.
- Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining frameworks, ideally within a comparable organisation and/or industry.
- A strong understanding of the UK Health and Safety regulatory framework and international safety experience would be useful but not essential.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships across all levels of management to Board level.
