We now have exciting permanent opportunities for motivated and suitably qualified Safety Case Project Engineer to join our Technical Communities based in the South West of England. Join us and be part of making a valuable contribution to the mega-infrastructure, Nuclear New Build project at Hinkley Point C (HPC).
The Role:
Project Engineer with Safety Case experience within the Issue Resolution (IR) Safety Case team. The purpose of the role is to deliver packages of work to resolve safety case issues, in both a lead and support capacity.
Key Duties:
- Agreeing deliverables with Stakeholders and ensuring they are kept appraised of progress;
- Developing technical work requests and achieve approval via governance committees;
- Produce technical reports with a safety / ALARP bias and guide safety documents through the approval process;
- Review technical reports (which may be outside their direct area of expertise) and provide general feedback;
- Co-ordinating output from multiple workstreams and acting as the single point of contact for progress reporting;
- Organising and chairing regular progress meetings to realise the agreed deliverables;
- Accurately record meeting outcome(s) and actions of key meetings and workshops. Ensure actions owners are aware and expedite completion of actions;
- Develop risk register and deliver associated risk mitigations;
- Preparing & delivering monthly IR Project Board (PB) packs and accompanying monthly communications note;
- Provide support to additional safety case work packages, under the guidance / direction of the IR Safety Case Manager.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Technical degree or equivalent experience;
- Experience of developing part of a UK nuclear safety case – this could be new documents or modifications to existing documents;
- Effective technical investigative and problem-solving abilities;
- High level of attention to detail, with a flexible mind-set;
- Ability to lead and co-ordinate a wide group of stakeholders using a structured approach;
- Able to co-ordinate a wide variety of technical information from diverse sources;
- Experience of reporting and presenting to decision-making and governance bodies;
- Awareness of the PWR-type design;
- Able to self-motivate and show initiative to complete own work;
- Curiosity / willingness to learn about new technical areas.

Due to the nature of the work, candidates will be required to undergo a Basic Security clearance (BPSS) and must have Independent Right to Work in the UK.
