Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Safeguarding Adults Officer to join a growing team who are motivated and committed to Safeguarding Adults.

Responsibilities are varied and will require a flexible approach from someone able to work independently and as part of a wider team.

Duties include:

  • Triaging daily safeguarding referrals by applying safeguarding thresholds in accordance with Sunderland multi-agency safeguarding procedures.
  • Undertaking Section 42 and other Safeguarding enquiries
  • Chairing Safeguarding Adults meetings and working with colleagues internally and externally.
  • Supporting the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub

You should have a good understanding and working knowledge of the Safeguarding Adults agenda, the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legal frameworks.

Sunderland City Council is committed to safeguarding vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
