Fixed Term Contract/Secondment Opportunity for 12 months | £19,624 to £21,758 per annum (Scale K) | 18.5 hours per week | County Hall, Norwich

We have the opportunity for a suitably qualified social care individual to join us at practice consultant grade to cover the maternity leave of one of our current Adult Safeguarding Practice Consultant (SAPCs). We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, qualified, social care individual who is passionate about safeguarding and is motivated to help develop this particular area of social work practice.

As we are advertising this post as a secondment opportunity you will need to have gained the permission of your manager to be released from your current post in order to apply for either of these posts. The maternity cover provides a valuable opportunity of gaining an insight into the work of the adult safeguarding team and could help you decide whether a future career progression would be moving into the adult safeguarding team when suitable permanent opportunities arise. The team are experienced individuals who will provide you with all of the support required to enhance both confidence and competence in this particular area of adult social work.

The team covers the whole of Norfolk and will require the successful applicants to hold a complex safeguarding caseload whilst contributing towards the quality and development of the Safeguarding Adults process.

You will provide advice and support to locality, SCCE and Hospital based Social Care staff and will have the opportunity to work closely with Service Providers; the Quality Assurance team; Police and Health colleagues amongst others. A key area of your role will also be the assessing of staff who are completing their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) to ensure their competency in undertaking safeguarding enquiries.

Running alongside the case-holding and case consultation areas of this role are additional areas of work that the team are involved. These will provide you with the opportunity to be involved in more strategic decision groups and also help you develop skills such as interpreting Departmental data reports to enable the team to improve practice quality. You will also take part in the development of the team’s training materials and the delivery of training sessions to Adult Social Care staff.
