JOB TITLE – Room Technician
DEPARTMENT – Maintenance – The Parkgate Hotel
RATE OF PAY - Competitive depending on experience - Including benefits!
CONTRACT TYPE – Full Time
OVERVIEW
We are looking for a Room Technician to join our Maintenance team at The Parkgate Hotel. In this role you will be responsible for keeping the hotel’s facilities, including guest bedrooms, in optimum operating condition by performing preventive and reactive maintenance and repairs.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR …
You will be responsible for responding to maintenance requests as advised by the department, being very mindful of Health and Safety legislation. You will also ensure good “work hygiene” to protect guest areas from damage. You need to be able to plan and prioritise work tasks, with the ability to react to urgent issues as they arise. You will need to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role, with the ability to be a self-starter, with the motivation to ensure that all of the hotel facilities are in good working order.
WHAT YOU’LL DO …
In this role you will need to be familiar with the design and the layout of all guest areas and greet guests during your presence in the property and maintain appropriate grooming.
You will also be responsible for reporting any unusual finding or safety hazards immediately to the relevant person in line with our policies and procedures and understand and be able to practice hotel emergency fire procedures.
To have a sound working knowledge of the following systems and procedures:-
a. Electrical distribution board and systems in all bedrooms.
b. Type of electrical lamps used in all light fittings in the resort
c. Understanding of hot and cold water systems to all bedrooms
d. Understanding of heating and air-conditioning to all bedrooms
e. A level of maintenance skill covering all bed room fixture and fittings
f. Room lock system and room safes
g. Room TV system, TV’s, video, play stations
h. Fire Alarm System – including testing, operation, policy & procedures
i. Competent in the use of portable tools such as drills, grinders, extension leads, etc
j. Writing out detailed purchase requisitions for all consumable items
k. Competent with PC applications such as Outlook (email), Word and Excel
l. Following on the job training – competent with Facilities Help Desk software
m. Carry out unblocking of drains, clearing waste pipes, mopping up etc when required
