JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:

Roofing Design Trainee

Responsible To:

Technical Design Manager

Main Purpose of Role:

Alumasc Building Products is currently looking for a candidate with an interest in the construction industry to join our Technical Services Department. The role will be working alongside an established team undertaking all aspects of design focusing on roofing and drainage products in support of the wider commercial team.

Alumasc actively encourages the introduction of trainees into the business and will provide a structured training programme to ensure that the candidate receives a broad range of industry experience for valued long-term employment

Key Tasks:

• Promote products and services.
• Engage with customers and internal departments by e-mail and phone to advise on technical aspects of the product range and related information.
• Resolve incoming queries on product application, associated regulations, detailing, substitution, and performance.
• Create detailed specifications in support of core product offer for inclusion into project tender for pricing.
• Provide calculations associated with the works e.g., u-value, drainage, and wind load analysis.
• Produce 2D architectural details using AutoCAD to illustrate the application of products.
• Review and comment on architectural drawings for specification compliance.
• On occasion, attend construction sites and client meetings in support of the external sales team to resolve technical issues and ensure correct procedures are being followed.
• Support the introduction and implementation of any new product or service.
• Assist, where necessary, the Marketing department in the development of new products and systems for the website and promotional literature.
• Fulfil administrative tasks such as logging projects and activities onto an internal database.
• Comply with the company's Health & Safety policy and regulations and the procedures for the processes that apply to the area of work and responsibility.

Key Requirements for Role:

• Keen and enthusiastic with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Well organised, with excellent problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise workload with minimal supervision.
• Capable of working successfully on your own and as part of a team.
• Basic IT skills and knowledge of MS Office
• Ability to work at heights
• GCSE English and Maths grade A-C/9-4 is essential
• Experience of using 2D AutoCAD is desired

Health & Safety

• Make themselves familiar with and conform to the Company Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Policies, and rules and procedures regarding safe working.
• Report unsafe plant, tools and equipment and unsafe practices, methods of work and any other hazards.
• Ensure that statutory inspections are carried out on equipment issued to them by the company.
• Observe all Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and Works Instructions.
• Wear and use the necessary protective clothing and equipment as required by the task or job.
• Shall at all times comply with the Highway Code and drive with all due care and attention having consideration at all times to the proximity of pedestrians and other road users.

Environmental

• Every employee is also responsible for attempting to minimise their impact on the environment and preventing pollution by respecting and implementing the Alumasc Roofing Environmental policy and procedures for the activities that are applicable to their area of responsibility, regardless of the location of work.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £20,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
