This job is to be performed remotely with the ability to travel to our London office occasionally.
Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance, evaluation, and enhancement of our global risk and governance framework from a UK perspective.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are effective, monitored, proportionate and adhere to applicable laws and regulations (in collaboration with external partners). e.g. IDD, GDPR & CPD
- Drive our direct authorisation application with the FCA, including using the FCA Connect System, RMAR reporting and CASS requirements.
- Monitor, analyse, evaluate and support communications to the appropriate audience, all regulatory developments relevant to company business, including regulatory reporting to FCA, Lloyd's of London and FOS in relation to general insurance activities.
- Maintain our Risk Register, providing an appropriate challenge to risks, their assessments and controls, ensuring timely actions are taken to manage all risks to within appetite
- Oversee regulatory breaches, complaints, data protection, financial crime, compliance training and all other relevant regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Ad hoc project work in support of the UK team or the Legal/Compliance.
Skills and Qualifications
- 3-5 years prior work experience with an insurtech, insurance company, or other FCA-regulated entity (cyber insurance experience a plus).
- Working knowledge of the UK regulatory and compliance environment, including Data Protection laws. European insurance experience and additional language (preferred).
- Previous experience with the FCA's direct authorisation process (preferred).
- Analytically focused, detail-oriented, with a growth mindset.
- Experience working through the audit process and directly with regulators.
- Experience in marketing, advertising and/or consumer protection a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with business colleagues, clients, regulators, and outside counsel.
- Nimble; ability to prioritise work without supervision and effectively manage a number of matters.
- Happy to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment and willing to occasionally work off-hours to collaborate with a US-based legal/compliance team.
