Job Title: Revenues & Benefits Service Specialist

The Vacancy:
We have an opportunity for a Revenues & Benefits Service Specialist. You will be using your professional expertise and technical knowledge, to provide guidance and advice in complex areas of revenues and benefits to support the achievement of key outcomes for customers and stakeholders.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Responding to service enquiries within Client SLA’s.
- Advising customers on complex revenues and benefits related issues and negotiating fair outcomes.
- Planning and coordinating initiatives relating to revenue collection/enforcement and housing benefit.
- Liaising with internal\external bodies, ensuring the promotion of our services.
- Investigating and researching the information required to support appropriate responses to service enquiries, complaints, FOI and Data Protection/Subject Access requests.
- Working accurately under pressure and using your own initiative to plan, manage and prioritise workloads to ensure tasks are completed accurately, within prescribed timescales.
- Interpreting complex council tax, business rates and benefits legislation and redesign and improvement of processes and procedures.
- Developing positive working relationships with Clients, colleagues, members of staff, residents, customers, stakeholders, and other external bodies.
- Promoting a positive attitude towards change.
- Communicating effectively, verbally and in writing.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with minimum 5 grades A-C including English and Maths.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the law and practices relating to all aspects of council tax/business rates and/or benefits.
- Experience of working within a revenues and benefits service.
- Experience of working with computerised systems.
- Ability to prioritise conflicting demands/working within tight timescales.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
